Last weekend the Muse took his granddaughter down
To see the new Pixar film coming to town.
With hundreds of children the theater’s packed,
All victims of having their innocence whacked
By subliminal anti-American themes
Of “Wall-E,” the robot with socialist schemes!
“Now Muse,” you might think, “you’ve most surely gone nutty!
Your granddaughter’s mashed your dull wits to mere putty!”
But hear what we say and you’ll know we’re not rash:
Our Wall-E inhabits a world full of trash
That’s left in the wake of a vile corporation --
a criminal capitalistic creation!
The “Buy N Large” company’s what they’re decrying.
(Could Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club be what they’re implying?)
Americans live in a space ship above
The world they’ve destroyed by their unfettered love
of over-consumption that makes them so fat
without the support of their chairs they’d go “splat.”
There’s shrewd use of colors: The earth is all brown,
Except for a sprout of a plant that’s renown
For being a hero because it’s so “green”:
Enviro allusions abound on the screen.
(We looked for Al Gore to appear in a scene!)
Thank goodness the kids can’t discern what they mean!
